A. Beard, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

ASCA Lauds Re-Entry Report
ASCA is proud to have partnered with ten other national organizations, including the
Council of State Governments (CSG), which coordinated the project, and to have served on the
Steering Committee of the Re-Entry Policy Council. The Report of the Re-Entry Council offers hundreds of
recommendations and examples of innovative programs in areas such as intake procedures,
prison-based programming, transition planning, release policies, and community supervision
strategies for the approximately three percent of adults in this country who are in jail or prison or
on parole or probation. Emphasizing strategies that reduce both costs and recidivism rates, the
Report is an unprecedented, critical tool for anyone seeking to make re-entry smart, safe, and
successful.
