ASCA is committed to promoting an agenda for correctional research that supports the needs of
correctional administrators in their efforts to develop effective public policy and to promoting an interest in and understanding of cutting edge correctional technologies as a means of achieving long-term cost savings and improving operational safety. Specifically the Correctional Research and Technology Committee is dedicated to:
- Researching practices and outcomes that advance institutional and community correctional practices in federal, state, and local public policy; and
- Establishing a clearinghouse for information related to correctional technology, sharing information and product reviews for the benefit of our members.
Specific goals of the Committee include:
- Identify existing best practices already gathered by ACA and ASCA whose successes are documented to be evidence-based and/or research based;
- Identify evidence-based and/or research-based practices that have the most potential for both improving correctional operations and influencing public policy; and
- Promote the use of correctional technologies to achieve higher performance standards and increased safety for both staff and offenders at the federal, state, and local levels.
